Thermal Assessment (NatHERS)

Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS) provides a framework that allows computer software tools to rate the potential efficiency of Australian homes.
A Thermal Performance Assessment is undertaken by qualified assessors using this sophisticated and accredited 2nd Generation software (AccuRate Sustainability V2.3.3.13 SP3). We will calculate the heating and cooling loads for your new home and an overall rating. If your home does not meet the minimum annual energy allowance, we will advise you as to ways you could improve or maximise the thermal efficiency of your home along with cost estimates. We will always try and provide various economical options without impacting the overall design of your house.
A minimum of 6 stars must be obtained in VIC; WA; QLD; SA; TAS; ACT & 5 stars in the NT.

New homes in NSW must obtain a minimum heating and cooling load based on the Building Sustainability Index (BASIX). See further information under the “BASIX” section of this website.

When conducting the thermal assessment, we will consider:

  • Layout of the home
  • Construction materials used
  • Local climate zone
  • Orientation of the home

The entire process can be done via email, making it quick and carefree for you!
